At Island Creek Oysters, Matt led the company’s direct-to-consumer business through a major growth period, helping scale DTC revenue 900% during COVID and sustain 500%+ ARR growth post-pandemic. He owned the DTC P&L and led the full commerce engine across Shopify, Klaviyo, Attentive, paid media, partnerships, merchandising, fulfillment, and customer experience.

The business was especially complex because Island Creek was not just an e-commerce brand. It operated across live seafood shipping, B2B restaurant sales, hospitality, CPG, and brand partnerships, which required tight coordination between marketing, operations, customer service, and fulfillment.

Matt helped turn DTC from a reactive pandemic channel into a durable growth engine by improving retention, increasing AOV, building lifecycle programs, and creating a more reliable operating cadence around digital revenue. The result was not just a spike in online sales, but a stronger, more diversified business that continued performing after the initial COVID surge faded.

At Symmons Industries, Matt led the company’s e-commerce and retail channels, owning roughly $20M in revenue across Amazon, Wayfair, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Walmart, Ferguson, and other digital and physical retail partners. Over five years, he helped grow the business 400% by building a more disciplined commercial strategy across marketplace operations, paid media, product content, pricing, promotions, and channel governance. This required more than simply pushing more product through more partners.

Symmons needed a cleaner operating model for how products showed up across channels, how pricing was protected, how promotions were managed, and how sales teams, marketing, product, and channel partners worked together. Matt helped implement stronger MAP and IMAP discipline, improved content and merchandising standards, and managed a $1M annual paid media budget across retail and marketplace environments. The result was a much more scalable e-commerce business with stronger channel control, better partner execution, and a clearer path for long-term digital growth.

At Wayfair, Matt was one of the company’s first 50 employees and part of the founding team that launched AllModern, Wayfair’s modern design brand. In the early stages, he helped build the commercial and marketing foundation for a new category-focused business inside a fast-growing company. The challenge was not just launching another online furniture site.

AllModern needed to establish credibility with design-conscious customers and premium suppliers while operating inside the speed and complexity of Wayfair’s broader platform. Matt helped onboard major design brands including Herman Miller, Knoll, Kartell, and Steelcase, while supporting the marketing, merchandising, and operational work needed to bring the new business to market. He later contributed to Wayfair’s UK and Germany launches, giving him early experience scaling commerce across brands, categories, and markets. The work gave Matt a strong foundation in how to build, position, and grow digital businesses from the ground up.
