Circumventing The Starters platform for communications, projects, or payment will result in removal from the platform and potential further action at our discretion. I’ve reached out to a Starter. When can I expect a response?

We ask all our Starters to respond within 1 business day, and some may respond within hours or even minutes.

It’s been a couple days and I haven’t heard back. Now what?

We send frequent reminders to Starters to respond to brand outreach. After 7 days of non-responsiveness, we’ll send 1 final reminder, then remove their profile from the platform. This constant curation ensures only active Starters are available on the platform

How do I schedule a meeting with a Starter?

We’re working on building meeting scheduling into our platform, but in the meantime you can either A) Find a time that works for both of you, then share your email to schedule an invitation or B) Share a calendar link, if you have one. After your initial meeting, please return communications to the platform.

I’ve found someone I want to hire. What’s next?

Amazing! Once you agree on scope, terms, and payment, you or your Starter can initiate a project via The Starters platform. If you’re doing it, go to their profile (just click into your messages with them above, then click their photo), hit the hire button, fill out project details, and you’re off to the races!

How do I pay? What are payment terms?

We do not dictate payment terms. Your payment schedule is whatever you and your Starter agree upon. Starters will initiate an invoice via their Starters dashboard upon your agreed cadence. Once sent, invoices are due within 7 days. Most invoices are payable via Stripe with credit card and/or bank transfers, but some Starters may choose to disable credit card payments due to processing fees.

I have an established payroll process. Can I pay outside of The Starters platform?

Members on our annual plan ($195/mo, prepaid for the year) can take Starters off platform to pay. Email us at hello@hirethestarters.com to switch your billing cadence.

Can I hire a Starter as a full-time employee?

A brand reached out to me. Do I need to respond if it’s not a good fit?

Yes. If a brand reached out via direct message, please respond even if it’s not a good fit. You can simply let them know it’s not a good fit.

How quickly do I need to reply?

The quicker the better… and the more likely you get hired! We do ask that all Starters respond within 1 business day of initial outreach.

A brand never got back to me after their initial outreach. Now what?

As much as we try to prevent this through education + requiring brands to pay to access the platform, this does happen from time-to-time. If you don’t hear back, feel free to follow up in-platform.

A brand wants to hire me. What’s next?

Amazing! Once you agree on scope, terms, and payment, you or the brand can initiate a project via The Starters platform. If you’re doing it, navigate to the “Start a Project” tab in the main menu, fill out project details, and you’re off to the races!

How do I get paid? 

First, you need to connect your Stripe account - visit your dashboard to do so if you haven’t already. Once this is complete and a project has started, you’ll see the option to “Generate Invoice” next to each active project on your Starters dashboard. 

What are payment terms?

We do not dictate payment terms. Your payment schedule is whatever you and the brand agree upon. You can initiate an invoice via their Starters dashboard upon your agreed cadence. Once sent, invoices are due within 7 days. Invoices are by default payable via Stripe with credit card and/or bank transfers, but you can adjust your payment methods in your Stripe dashboard.

I have another preferred payment method. Can I get paid outside of The Starters platform?

No, payments must be processed via The Starters. We do not take any cut of your pay, nor do we hold payment. Payments flow directly from brands into your Stripe account. We have exceptions for Starters in countries where Stripe does not operate and for boutique agencies who pay to be listed on our platform. Can I be hired as a full-time employee?

Brand members on our annual plan can hire Starters as full-time employees. If you reach an agreement with a brand to be hired full-time, please email us at hello@hirethestarters.com to let us know.
